About
Mission and History
For almost 3 decades, the Mt. Calvary Outreach Center (MCOC) has provided camp opportunities for at risk youth in the rural Kershaw community in South Carolina. A lighthouse in the community, MCOC's mission is to provide positive learning experiences for at risk children in the community. Together with partners, we work to promote health and wellness, and help children develop responsibility, integrity and good citizenship habits. In addition to the summer program, MCOC also ministers to area senior citizens through Bible study and fellowship and provides mentoring opportunities year round.
A vision of the late Pastor Lewis, MCOC continues to honor his legacy by pouring into this community with an eye on the future. We believe that by positively influencing today's at risk children and youth, future leaders are produced, impacting the community in immeasurable ways. Another way we show tribute to Pastor Lewis is through the use of the lighthouse to the left. This image was used on some of the earliest promotional materials from MCOC and we continue to adapt and use it today.
